Whether you are preparing for an important exam, applying to college or high school, or need extra help with math class, I can help you achieve your goals. Click on a particular area for more information.

Sometimes the class moves too quickly. Other times you just don’t get it. And a classroom teacher, however skilled, still has to teach to a dozen–or three dozen–different kids at once. Whatever the struggle you might be experiencing in a particular course or subject, individual instruction turns confusion into comprehension.

When helping you with your math, science or humanities class, it is my goal to figure out how you learn that material best and then develop a way for you to learn and apply material that works for you. We move at your pace, finding the things you don’t understand and breaking them down until you do.

Well-timed tutoring intervention, whether a student is struggling with fundamental concepts in elementary or middle school or more advanced material later on, can raise confidence and grades and ease the anxiety and suffering of poor performance. The aim is not only to boost grades, but also to help you understand and enjoy the material and meet the challenge it poses.

I provide ongoing curricular support in all levels of math, including pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus and calculus, most humanities and science classes, and study and organizational skills. We can prepare intensively for an important exam or paper, or we can set up ongoing weekly sessions to help a student perform at his or her best throughout the year.

A strategically prepared and original college application often makes the difference in the increasingly competitive college admissions process. I have helped many students prepare their applications with extremely successful results.

We work intensively on the college essay, selecting a topic that frees the student to write in his or her own voice and editing the essay for maximum impact. We also balance the content and wording of the application’s short answer questions and additional essays to present the most complete picture. We practice for the interview, getting comfortable with the experience. We also make a step-by-step plan for the entire process, breaking a daunting workload down into smaller steps and ensuring progress along the way.

College admissions help can be combined with test preparation in the fall of the senior year. Or, if we get an earlier start, we can prepare for exams in the winter/spring of junior year, and focus on applications in the fall of senior year. Adapting to each student’s time frame and schedule, we can make this challenging process manageable and successful.
