Emily helped my son study for the ISEE and specialized high school tests. She helped him stay focused and motivated and was a pleasure to work with. With Emily’s help, he scored well on both tests and was accepted to his two top choices for high school. I plan on calling Emily again next year so she can help my daughter.

Emily helped me with all three sections of the SAT as well as my SAT Subject Tests in Math I and Literature. Plus, she helped me explore all my testing options to see what would be the best fit for me. It was nice knowing I had someone to turn to in this stressful testing process who knew what I needed to do to achieve my collegiate goals.

Even with something as stressful as the SATs, I looked forward to meeting with Emily, because our lessons were not dull despite the rather dull material we worked with. I learned test-taking strategies, new math material and how to write the perfect SAT essay–all while having a good time.

Emily taught me how to deal with word problems and approach them in a way that made them less intimidating. My math score alone increased by 120 points within three months, and my Math I Subject Test score also rose significantly.

Aside from the significant increase in my SAT scores, I also became more comfortable with testing, and this has helped me in a school context as well. I no longer “freak” over taking tests in general, and not only has this saved me stress, but also I actually do better without the anxiety factor. I am now going to my first-choice college, and I know Emily very much contributed to helping me achieve this goal.

The minute Emily Weinstein enters your home, she becomes someone you look forward to seeing every week. I started working with Emily in January of my freshman year of high school, after I had failed second-quarter Algebra I. I was apprehensive about tutoring. I had never looked forward to doing math and had never been very good at it. Emily came in and changed that. She explained everything in in slow, very easy-to-comprehend steps and didn’t make me feel stupid for not getting it immediately.

At first, my goal was just to pass math, but as time went on and I started understanding it better, I aimed higher. When math tests approached, I went from, “Oh, I hope I pass,” to, “I want to get an A.” And I got the A. Starting out with Emily, I was a 65 Algebra I student. At the end of my senior year, I got a 94 in Precalculus.

Emily isn’t just a good tutor because she has patience and understanding for the poor math student struggling to grasp the concepts of sine curves, but because she understands the perils of the teenage years. Emily made it okay to be an awkward teenager, and trust me, I’m probably the most awkward teenager there is. I feel so lucky and fortunate to have had Emily’s passion for math–and life–in my living room every Wednesday. I’m now a freshman at American University, and I would not have gotten there without Emily, both her math tutoring and her life guidance.

If you’re reading this, then you’re obviously looking for a math tutor. I don’t recommend leaving this page. You’ve found the best there is.

Emily Weinstein tutored two of our kids for the ISEE test. Both found her fun to be around, yet very helpful. She quickly identified the areas of the test in which they needed the most support, and helped them improve their skills. More importantly, she gave them confidence in their abilities. Both kids were encouraged to work to achieve the goals she set for them. We would certainly recommend Emily to anyone looking for a tutor. She is a pleasure to work with!

Emily helped me raise my math SAT score and refine my essay. When there was something I did not get right, we would spend as much time as I needed going over it. There wasn’t a question she could not answer. Never did I feel stressed out or bored working with Emily.
